The build phase of a landscape design
Landscape construction in Adelaide covers everything between a landscape architect's drawings and a finished, planted site. There are two halves to it. Hardscape is the built part: walls, paving, edging and structures. Softscape is the living part: soil, planting, turf and mulch. On a land development that usually means the estate entry and the public open space that council takes over once it has established.

Built to the drawings
We price from the landscape architect's drawings and specification, so there's a clear line between what was tendered and what's a variation. Hold points and inspections are agreed with the head contractor or superintendent before we start, and recorded as we go ASYS uses inspection and test plans.
Paving goes down on a compacted base built to the pavement engineer's design. Where cars or service vehicles cross it, herringbone is the pattern that locks together best under turning wheels. Soil is tested and improved to the specification before anything is planted soil testing practice. Trees are supplied to AS 2303 ASYS specifies AS 2303 stock.

Common questions
Do you work as a subcontractor to head contractors?
Yes. Most commercial landscape work is let as a package under a head contractor. We work to their program and site rules, and report through their site manager.
Can you price from a landscape architect's drawings?
Yes. Send the drawings and specification, plus a bill of quantities if there is one. We'll price to them and list the assumptions we've made and anything we think needs clarifying.
Do you look after the landscape until council handover?
Yes. Estate landscapes usually carry a maintenance period before council accepts them. We can include that period in our package, so one contractor stays accountable for the plants from planting day to handover.
What paving works best for vehicle areas?
Segmental pavers laid in herringbone on an engineered base. Herringbone interlocks in both directions, so it resists the creep that turning wheels cause. Paver thickness and base depth follow the pavement engineer's design.
